I see you made some quite far-reaching changes, cutting back quite some functionality (MySQL gone, importing from a few databases, only the keyword option left for text nodes, fewer selection criteria, etc.). I also noticed you named the zip-files 'Basic'. Does that mean there will be an 'Advanced" version too? Does this also mean that you have now 'dropped' those options from future versions and that we will be 'stuck' with the 5.8.R3 version? Or is something else going on? (And sorry if I missed the explanation, but I did look for it here and in the readme...)

Yes, now I release CiteSpace at two levels: a Basic version and an Advanced version. The Basic version is a much simplified but sufficient set of functions with a focus on the fundamental document co-citation analysis. I strongly encourage new users to work with this simplified version and get familiar with the basics before moving on to other types of more complex analyses, which are now grouped in the Advanced version. The Advanced version is bundled with my ebook How to Use CiteSpace. I notice that you have access to the Advanced version. Login to citespace.podia.com and you will find it under the How to Use CiteSpace section.

Thanks Chaomei! This wasn't clear to me, but it now is. And so I AM now working with the 'Advanced' version. And yes, certain parts DO seem to work faster! Thanks for that...

research is now for the rich. We as African countries have no access to the advanced version. Even if we don't have money, you have to know dear chaome that we can't pay, because we don't have a credit card... Thank you as same

I will not try to defend global inequalities - they are indefensible. But Chaomei is hardly to blame for this. Let me just point out, however, that older versions from CiteSpace (when all versions were 'advanced') may still work, so maybe you could try one of those? Also - while they don't come close to the functionality of CiteSpace, you also still have Vosviewer and Bibliometrix as options.
