[CinePaint] what format to open in Mac?

I have a quicktime movie that needs to have about 8 frames re-touched.
I've tried bringing my clip into cinepaint by leaving it as a QT movie, 
and by saving that as a sequence of Photoshop files, and CinePaint 
gives me an error each time.

Is there some trick to this?
