Nope. Dot does refer to teh current dir. This notation allows access locally as well (although that wouldn't be chrooted). If needed you can edit teh passwd file manually to add the . Basically /./ acts as a silent flag. -----Original Message----- From: Matt Rideout [mailto:mri...@wi...] Sent: 18 September 2003 18:33 To: chr...@li... Subject: [Chrootssh-users] chrootssh under FreeBSD 4.8 I'm trying to setup chrootssh on a FreeBSD 4.8 box. I've been following the chrooted sftp howto (http://chrootssh.sourceforge.net/docs/chrootedsftp.html), and everything went smoothly until I got to the point where the instructions said to create a new user account with a home directory of "/path/to/chroot/./home/username". AFAIK, under FreeBSD (and I'm pretty sure under Linux too), you can't create a "." directory since "." refers to the present working directory. Am I misunderstanding the directions?
