Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Hallo everyone, the CHM project is currently in the planning and design phase. Since 2003/02/23 the prototype module 'chmdesign' has been imported to CVS. The goals of the prototype are: - collection of requirements - specification of the user interface - specification of the software architecture - UML modelling as preparation for the implementation phase All already collected requirements can be found in the docs sub directory of the 'chmdesign' CVS module. At present, I am working at the user interface specification. To do so a UI prototype is created using the NetBeansIDE. The UI specification also serves as base for collecting additional requirements. Very important upcoming decisions have to me made. Your help is very welcome. If you have any experiences or you would like to acquire new knowledge in the following areas, please contact me: - specification of player skill attributes and definition of their impact on the simulation of an ice hockey match - specification of the simulation of an ice hockey match - specification of how player contract negotiations and the transfer and trade system will work - specification of staff contract negotiations and the available staff market and the staff's impact on the organization - specification of all aspects concerning a club manager (personal career, contract, personal finances, privileges based upon the detention of a certain percentage of stocks of a club etc.) - specification of the internal stock exchange (How are the stock prices determined?) So, as you can see, there is a lot to do! If you are interested, you are invited to join the project group.
