There are two files located in the download section. Older versions may be found in the Older Versions folder.
Please consider creating a Bootable USB (instructions below). New downloads will not be timely. The LiveUSB will allow you to easily update to the newest version of Chirp-daily and therefore you will not be dependent on my release schedule.
Note: In the instructions below I refer to .iso and .exe files. These are the last 3 letters of the file name.
The .iso is intended for USB flash drive installs, Linux and Mac users as well as use in a virtual machine. There are distinct advantages to using a USB drive. 1) you aren't wasting CDs, 2) you can save your radio files and 3) you can easily update to the latest version of Chirp. See instructions below.
The .exe file is for Windows users with 32bit or 64bit operating systems. It is a self-extracting file containing the .iso cd image and software to burn the cd. Double-click the downloaded .exe. After approximately a minute, a window will open. Press OK. Your CD tray will open and you will be prompted to place a blank cd in your burner. Do so, close your cd tray and press OK. You will be prompted when the process is complete. To use your newly created Chirp LiveCD, reboot your computer to the CD.
Once booted, two windows will open. One is Chirp, the other will find and display the port your cable is plugged into. You will need this info for Chirp.
