[chiPHPug-discuss] hosting recommendations

Hi folks,

It's been quiet on this list lately, no?

I'd like to ask the perennial favorite question: can you recommend a good
web host? I've been a big fan of Dreamhost for five years, but their
arrogance in the last year in spite of continued reliability problems is
making me eager to switch.

For my personal sites, I need an account that can support at least ten
domains and offers good control over PHP configuration settings (at least
.htaccess and maybe php.ini) and has a well-designed control panel. For my
clients, I need a host that can perform well under lots of traffic, won't go
down several times a year, and responds to support requests quickly and
courteously.

Someone recommended site5.com to me recently and I'm checking that out. I've
used Rackspace a few times and would happily use that for everything, but
most of my clients can't afford it. I could get one Rackspace account and
move all of my clients onto it, but I don't want to get into any kind of
reseller relationship. I just want to introduce my clients to reliable hosts
that won't make me look bad.
