Hello All, I have a friend, Mike Fisher, whose startup has been accepted into an early stage accelerator for tech startups, Capital Factory ( http://www.capitalfactory.com/). They will be moving to Austin, TX for the summer in order to take part in the program. He has a first-version site that has existing customers, but will be doing significant dev & UI changes on it over the summer, with an eye for making the site more efficient and automating many of the steps. They are looking for a developer, either a contract worker, or, in the words of Mike, someone who "would have a real interest and want to become an early member of our team". So the opportunity is there for either role. As I haven't seen the code-base, it's unclear to me if the project would best be served by reworking the existing code-base, or building a new one. The team would best be served by an efficient, clean, and tested code-base, so he's looking to find someone with an eye for architecture who would build well-tested code. He'd prefer someone in Austin (for that time), but would be OK with remote if the person was a good fit. He's a nice guy and the site is in the wedding-video space, which is quite a large market -- I imagine it has lots of growth possibility. Email Mike Fisher (mik...@st...) and tell him I sent you, if you are interested in learning more. Here's a brief description from Mike: ***** Our current site is a mixture of php, javascript, and AJAX. Plus we use a custom MySQL database to automatically build our ordering system, Storyboard, dashboard, and email systems. We also take the php code from the Storyboard and covert it into XML for use in Final Cut (which might all be changing due to a new version coming out). I handle the front end of the system using a GUI web program, which outputs a mixture of HTML, CSS, and javascript. We are not locked into what our current developer has done but we need to maintain the functionality to service customers. My thought is that we will be looking to automate as many steps in our workflow as possible and make everything more efficient. We also have specific areas that we want to improve the functionality and usability. Finally, we have some ideas of possible iPhone apps. *** Thanks, Sarah -- http://www.twitter.com/fablednet http://www.fabled.net/blog/ |
