Oh, I forgot to add that to do your development you have many options:

1) use notepad and sftp your edited php files to the virtualbox server. 
Install sftp on your windows desktop:

2) edit directly on the machine using Vim or Nano, proly want to use 
putty to SSH onto virtual server.

3) an IDE on windows such as:
