One method I've used that seems to work rather well is to add one or two
text fields to the form and use css to make them invisible. In your code, if
there is anything entered in those fields you can ignore it because it was
probably filled in by a bot.
might not work as well as captcha, but at least there's no more to fill in
from the user.
