Welcome, Sara.  I've heard really good things about Cake, too but haven't
used it yet. Larry Masters came to one of our meetings once and it was very
informative and seemed solid.  I would def. look into it if I got to do a
from-scratch php project.

Agree about an existing code-base: I think frameworks are good if you get to
start from scratch, not shove stuff existing code in (head-aches).
