I have used both MySQL and PostgreSQL on many Linux boxes with no
conflicts.
Other than the obvious ones of RAM and hard drive limitations of
having multiple heavy-duty software packages running and storing
potentially massive amounts of data.
I've installed both on at least one Windows box, again with no problems.
Well, no more problems than Windows had *before* the installations. :-)
If you worked really hard at it, I suppose you could configure both to
use the samr port to listen to connections, or store their files in
the same directory, with the expected train wrecks that would
entail... At that point, you'd be TRYING to make it fail, though.
