I have been using COTV for the past 8 years.

Recently we started using a tigervnc server (x0vncserver), and now I have started getting these "unknown message type" errors - with different type numbers.

I don't get them when using jollyFastVNC or tigervnc viewers, but my preference is to continue using Chicken.

Is there a fix or workaround on the viewr side, or an option for the server I can use to get around this problem?

I filed this bug a whiles back:
    https://sourceforge.net/p/chicken/bugs/25/

Looks very similar to yours. I've been using TigerVNC's Java Client to connect to those hosts, since it's at least kind enough to remember recent hosts (unlike their OS X client for some reason...) but it's still nowhere near as handy as Chicken

It appears that "dustinac" has been doing code commits here and there, and perhaps there will be a release soon that fixes this?

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Turns out I can use an older version (of CoTV) -2.0b4, and it works fine with this server.
