I want to clean pgn files so they don't give any problems when I import the pgn's in some opening training apps, ore if I want to make a bin book of one of the pgn's.
I usely use SCID for this, but with SCID a get error messages when I import pgn's made with Chessbase an Hiarcs Chess Explorer Pro.
It is good that SCID detects these errors, but I would like it to quitly fix these errors when cleaning the games by exporting. Ore to have an option to do it quitly, so I don't see these anoying error messages, and don't have to close windows each time.
For the pgn's exported with Hiarcs Chess Expler I get the error: Error parsing the tag pair: EventDate
And for the pgn files from Chessbase I get the error: (game 1, line 0) Failed to parse the move: ï
(game 1, line 0) End of game, ignored the part after the last error.
Becouse Chessbase Chessbase add the BOM ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byte_order_mark )
So I hope I can clean pgn's with ChessX instead.
When exporting pgn files to clean them SCID has some interesting options:
N'ChessX 1.6.2 will contain automatic BOM detection and more changes to the parser. Also you can set a file to dirty with the context menu allowing it to be saved adter reading the file.
I hope that this addresses your issues with PGN
