Added the ability to hide the center the "big" center, white and/or black pieces.
Changed the chess pieces to a different set to avoid possible copyright issues.
Shrunk the book down form the 2600 games size. The opening trainer will be split out as a seperate program in the near future.
Split out the chess board view as a library.
Changed layout a touch.
This project is close to moving away from "just hacking" to something a little more organized. Stay tuned.
I've extracted out and released the simple (but good-looking) Swing chessboard component. This is a prelude to breaking up and adding to the chess training tools suite.
Now you have something to watch while the app starts up. Also, the new installer should work on both Unix and Windows (and Mac OS, but I have no way of testing that). Also, slightly updated look and feel.
The opening trainer was displaying moves outside of the selected opening in some cases. This is now fixed.
This release sees the addition of a larger opening book. While it will make Vince a little stronger, it is really a bump up for the opening trainer. Now you can choose which ECO codes you want to study.
It is a big, hinking download now, however, at over 5MB.
Added question timeouts and intensive requizing of incorrectly answered questions.
A bug crept into the last version where wrong answers did not cause a requiz.
Now has timing code and a buffer to requiz on items that you were too slow to answer.
Added strength toggle (between 2.5 and 3 ply). Better iterative deepening and hash table management.
Chess Trainer for the palm platform released. Requires SuperWaba, but should also run on WinCE, Gameboy, etc. as a result of this.
Provides a subset of the full functionality. Specifically, it doesn't include the mate trainer, the opening trainer, or Vince.
Added hash table, rook connectivity in Vince. Extended search just for tactical stuff so Vince isn't a complete dope. Fixed some probability in Knight and Diagonal tests.
Likely the last release before major code cleanup and split of the opening trainer.
Primarily a bug fix/ speed improvement release. The Knight test now has a reasonable number of correct answers and Vince now searches faster and (perhaps) has a better sense of king safety.
Now included an opening trainer and the ability to hide pawns and pieces in Vince.
Now you can hide all pawns and/or pieces while playing Vince.
Version 1.1.5 of the Chess Visualization Trainer has been released in both source and binary form.
