I noticed that the Linux repository was a lot faster at checking than the windows repository. I assume that would be because of the newer storage on the Linux side. I also assume that the vastly quicker time was not due to less files being checked.

It would be useful for the email summary sent at the end of each run to include the number of data objects checked. If the number was not roughly what was expected, then that would indicate a problem with the checking run.

The report that Michael Still wrote suggests that this has been implemented in both the email and log files. The document is in RKS #R1062302011. We could still verify that it has been implemented by testing. It would be higher priority to test logs at this point than email.

Tested on the testing branch, the email summary does not give the total number of data objects checked but gives the total bytes checked and the checksums checked.

Below is the extract from the report sent: (Please note in the below example, I had a number of AIPs missing in my repository)

    Error count: 232

    File I/O milliseconds: 5
    Checksum calculation milliseconds: 4
    Hex generation milliseconds: 1
    Total bytes checked: 6015

Checksum statistics: 4 checksums, with 1.25 read millis, 1.0 checksum millis, 0.25 hex conversion millis per AIP (more details are in the checker log file on disk)

I'm wondering if the number of AIPs could be used interchangeably with data objects. My belief is that they are the same thing. If there is a missing AIP, at the end of a checksum run the number of AIPs was accurate even with one removed. There were 54 AIPs on a normal run, and 53 on a run when one was removed. Please verify.
