The Checkstyle Ant task should get an attribute (such
as "verbose") that triggers printing progress
information during the Ant run. Currently, no
information whatsoever is printed out in the Ant task
making it hard to follow what Checkstyle is doing.

The progress information could be one of three things:

  • a message for each file being processed (such as
    "Checking com.blah.cool.Class....")
  • a summary (such as "Checked 4 files.")
  • a combination of the above.

To obtain verbose progress information, use the custom
listeners feature, and the simple VerboseListener or
    configurable CommonsLoggingListener from the
contrib/examples/listeners directory that are in the CVS for
    version 3.2.

So will the listeners be in 3.2?

    Yes, they will.
