I have made numerous attempts to download the ChEBI owl file from the downloads page, since I would like to keep updated versions of the owl ontology on my desktop, however I have never been able to do this. The server hangs up (maybe because the file is so large?) and I ultimately will have to force quit my browser. This issue is browser independent (Safari, Firefox, Chrome). I'm wondering if other folks have this problem and what I can do to successfully obtain the file.

    It is a big file, 127MB, you should not try to open it using a browser.
    You could try Protege instead: http://protegewiki.stanford.edu/wiki/Protege-OWL_3_FAQ
