we also have in CHEBI the terms thiol (CHEBI:29256, structure RSH and is the same thing as a sulfhydryl)) and organic disulfide (CHEBI:35489. structure RSSR). These could be used instead and should still give a balanced reaction. The structures provided in 16520 and 17412 are actually specific for secondary alkyl thiols (sufhydryls) and secondary alkyl disulfides. There is nothing in the names provided in either KEGG or MetaCyc to suggest this and they are fact described as generic compounds. These structures may have been generated by guesswork and copied blindly by IUBMB. I would suggest that 16520 and 17412 should be merged/deleted.
What do you think?
Cheers,
Steve
