SVG Charter Alpha-3 release

The SVG Charter team is excited to announce the availability of the alpha-3 release of SVG Charter. The alpha-3 release now supports both scatter and line graphs as proof-of-concept of reusable charting modules. Read the readme.txt in the distribution package for more details on how to invoke different modules.

The SVG Charter team is still looking for developers interested in data visualization to add new modules. Still needed are area charts, bar charts, regression models. The team is also interested in hearing from experts in SVG and data visualization to help improve the quality of the engine and readability of the output.... read more

SVG Charter Alpha-2 release

The SVG Charter team has released the Alpha-2 developer version of the SVG Charter project. This release adds no extra functionality, but has been modularized such that developers interested in adding chart modules can do so without modifying the charting engine code.

With this release, the SVG Charter team is looking for developers interested in data visualization to assist in developing additional output modules for different graph types.... read more

Announcing SVG Charter: A small tool for building SVG graphs

The SVG Charter team announced today the first alpha release of the SVG Charter tool. This small perl-based utility is designed to produce charts and graphs in the SVG format for fully scalable display. The alpha release is a prototype of the tool which outputs a basic scatter graph based on CSV input.

Future releases of the tool are expected to modularize the output to allow any number of data series, different chart types, external style configurations, generate JavaScript mouse over visualization highlights and more. Also on the feature list is to allow different input types such as XML, OpenSpreadsheet, database connectors and more.... read more
