Hi Chapel Community -- A few quick updates: CHIUW 2016 ---------- The program for CHIUW 2016 -- the 3rd Annual Chapel Implementers and Users Workshop -- is now available online: http://chapel.cray.com/CHIUW2016.html This year's program spans 13 organizations and features 4 research papers, 10 short talks, and a keynote by Nikhil Padmanabhan (astrophysics professor, Yale University). In addition, we'll hold our annual "state of the project" report, community discussion session, and a code camp opportunity on day two. CHIUW 2016 will be held May 27-28 in Chicago as part of IPDPS 2016. Early registration closes March 27th, so register this week to save some money! Chapel Twitter Feed ------------------- We recently kicked off a Twitter feed to complement our Facebook page. If you're a Twitter or Facebook user, these are great ways to keep up with the project on a regular basis as we continue to try to keep this chapel-announce mailing list limited to a small number of mails per year to spare your inbox. Chapel on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChapelLanguage Chapel on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ChapelLanguage #chapel IRC channel ------------------- We've also recently launched a #chapel IRC channel hosted at chat.freenode.net to complement the #chapel-developers channel that has been hosted there for some time now. The #chapel channel is designed for lightweight Q&A among the Chapel community, focused particularly on issues of using the language and compiler. Meanwhile #chapel-developers continues to be focused primarily on discussion about the development of Chapel. To join either, point your favorite IRC app to #chapel or #chapel-developers at chat.freenode.net. (Given the lossy nature of chatrooms, note that if you have a question for which a response is important, the standard Chapel contact and community mailing lists continue to be your best option). Google Summer of Code --------------------- Finally, a quick reminder that Google Summer of Code applications are due this Friday and that Chapel is a participating organization this year: https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/organizations/6608321708556288/ Best wishes, -Brad Chamberlain (on behalf of the Chapel team) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Transform Data into Opportunity.
