Dear Chapel Community --
For those of you who will be at SC15 next week (or have colleagues who
will be), I wanted to take a moment to plug a few Chapel-related
activities that will be taking place. All of these are also listed on the
web at: http://chapel.cray.com/SC15.html
* Chapel Tutorial: On Sunday afternoon, we will be offering a Chapel
tutorial. This year's offering will build on last year's
example-driven format, though we've also shuffled things around
a bit in order to fit in a hands-on session as well.
* Workshop Talk: Sunday morning at the LLVM-HPC workshop, Akahiro
Hiyashi (Rice University) will kick off the research paper session by
describing some collaborative work that's taken place between Rice and
Cray to perform communication optimizations for Chapel (and other PGAS
languages) in LLVM.
* Tasking BoF: On Wednesday afternoon, Michael Ferguson (Cray Inc.) will
be participating in a BoF organized by Argonne National Labs exploring
the concept of a community standard for lightweight tasks and threads.
Michael will be representing the Chapel runtime's tasking needs as part
of this session.
* On Wednesday evening just after the BoF, we'll be holding our annual
CHUG (Chapel Users Group) happy hour at The Bonneville. Please join
us if you're able!
* In addition to the organized events above, members of the Chapel team
will be available in the Cray booth in the late afternoon Tuesday and
Wednesday for informal discussion and questions.
* Also, throughout the week, stop by the PGAS booth in order to pick up
this year's Chapel giveaway: Chapel fortune cookies!
Again, for further details on any of these items, please refer to
http://chapel.cray.com/SC15.html. And if you are aware of any other
Chapel-related SC15 events that we've overlooked, please let us know.
We hope to see and meet many of you at the show!
-Brad Chamberlain
(on behalf of the Cray Chapel team)
