\delete{\item ...}} gives an error.

Sorry for the long answer delay: this is a bug, but not on my side :)

Some things simply do not work with some formatting choices, such as throughlining of items. Sorry, but my TeX knowledge is limited there. Same goes for tables, figures, headings etc.

You can test if changing deletion formatting works, but in most cases it wont.
