#13 System Preferences desktop doesn't work after daemon off

Version 2.4 of ChangeDesktop. Version 10.1.5 of
Mac.

ChangeDesktop works fine. If I turn the daemon off, and
try to change the desktop picture via the System
Preferences Desktop control panel, I can change the
picture in the "well", but the picture on the desktop never
changes. It is as if the daemon is preventing the
desktop picture from being overwritten.
