Basically Safari doesn't always support streams that CGI:IRC use, so therefore it will not always work on Safari, this is a Safari problem. The message comes from CGI:IRC because it notices this and so recommends you use Firefox. There is a workaround but unfortunately it's not something you can really tell users to do: - Enable the Debug menu in Safari, - Near the bottom there is a 'Supported Protocols' option, - Remove the tick next to 'http: (Simple Loader)' (leaving CFNetwork Loader ticked), - CGI:IRC should work. You have to do this each time you run Safari too, so it's not really a long term workaround. The reason it sometimes seems to work is Safari presumably chooses to use the CFNetwork loader - I don't know why this is though. If you want to test it try http://dgl.otherwize.co.uk/teststream.cgi with the different loaders. David. |
