Is there a specific syntax for this? I did not see anything in the
ExtUtils::MakeMaker POD. I'll create a Build.PL as an experiment, but if
it refers to optional modules, it won't be compatible with Makefile.PL.

I'll wait till you reply, but is it ok then to wipe out all trace of
YAML?

At the same time of course I'll look at splitting YAML stuff into a
separate distro.

Also, I'll post a separate msg to the list about some thoughts on
plug-ins.
