My view is that if no one wants to step up to maintain this in the core, 
it doesn't belong there if it is causing a problem (which it is), and no 
one has stepped up for months.

It's time to eject it. It will function just as well as an external 
distribution for those who wish to use it.

Jason Crome recently brought the SVN repo back online, so we should be 
able to proceed with a release soon to follow through on that goal.
