The secure printing being used by GGSG group uses SecureJet card. This card loses connection with JetDirect when printer is rebooted using nightly script (ndscheck). Then the printer needs a hard reboot (power cycle) in order to restore the connection between SecureJet and JetDirect.
At present, ndscheck runs for a printer only if dailycheck is set to 'Y'. We can stop rebooting of specific printers by setting their corresponding dailycheck = 'N'. But the side effect is that the other functionalities (like hpmfpsetup, supply monitoring etc) will also not be performed.
Therefore, ndscheck needs to be modified in such a way that reboorting of specific printers can be turned ON or OFF without sacrificing on other features of ndscheck.
One suggestion is to add a new field at device level (in SDDB). The fieldname is "dailyreboot". If this field is set to 'N' then the ndscheck will not reboot the printer. If this field is set to 'Y' then ndscheck should reboot the printer. The default value for this field is 'Y'
