How many times have you watched a movie, and just squirmed at different things that you wish just weren't there.
Uncle Buck, for example. The box says it is a family favorite, yet the movie has constant swearing. It even mentions dildos!
Despite this, it is a very funny movie. It would be nice to be able to block some of these words from the movie.
It isn't so hard as you may think. It does not require any kind of speech to text rendering. The hard work has already been done by the subtitling.
It is as simple as having a program parse the text for swear words. (which could be configured by the user) then here comes the hard part...
Here is a sample line:
129
00:20:53,000 --> 00:20:55,000
Was this our way of life?
Now the problem is that we don't have the exact time of when the word will be used. However, a simple algorithm could be made to guess at what time it would be muttered. (another setting could make it more careful as well).
Movies get more and more trashy lately, would be nice to have a way to make them more friendly again.
