Sorry, Pat, after your latest commit, your time-setting under Celestia-gnome is really messed up. It's so messed up that I have problems describing what is wrong ;-) In view of this contrived situation, could you please /precisely/ describe step-by-step what your latest dialog is supposed to do, then I shall reply about the bugs... Please separate the actions, depending on whether "show local time" is set or unset.! There should --first of all-- be the possibility of /displaying/ a given time either in UTC units or in the local time frame units, independently of any other settings. That's perfectly realized in celestia-kde. The next and logically separate issue concerns the /setting/ of time: again there should be a choice for the user whether he/she prefers to set the time in UTC or in local time units. Independently of any other constraints. Have a look in celestia-kde. It just works fine there. ++++++++++++++++ It would be good if /all/ developers did continue adhering to our old habits of briefly but concisely describing what changes have been made in their CVS commits. I am not going to spend my time finding this out by experiment! So if anybody wants my feedback, please let me know what you did... ++++++++++++++++ Last not least, a question concerning the conspicuously bad font rendering after I upgraded to gtk-2.8.8. You know already that I am using the very latest gtk-qt-engine (with the pixmap background bug fixed). I know already that the transition to this bad font rendering is only dependent on using gtk>2.6.8. I have tested that with many intermediate gtk versions. On the other hand, thunderbird and firefox (that also use the gtk libs) have an even more crisp and smooth font display with my upgraded gtk-2.8.8. In contrast, gimp and celestia's menu fonts look disgusting. More pale and notably the capital letter N has a bold \ etc. I saw a number of respective discussions in the net, but haven't found yet the real show stopper... Any suggestions?? Bye Fridger |
