I compiled and tried out your new splash screen (doin' dat dare compilin'
unda windaz is a pain in th'arse), and it works quite well. There are a
couple of issues I have with it, though.
While the display is nice, it does actually feel like it takes longer to
start, both on cold start and after it's been run once. I get the feeling
that the splash adds on the order of 200-300ms. Maybe I'm just crazy, but
it does feel that way.
A real issue: I have ClearType or whatever turned on, and all of the label
text in the splash is doubled-up. It's alike a copy is placed two pixels
offset to the original text.
Overall I think it's appropriate for Windows. But it flashes by really
quickly for me.
And regarding the text "Celestia", I like it, personally. Having it
optional in simulation::start or whatever might work okay.
The most annoying thing in the normal start-up routine for celestia is
perhaps the start script. I'm not sure what it is, but I tend to remove
it. Maybe a poll on the forum would see if there's something innately
annoying about it. Maybe I'm just crazy.
