On another note, I've been playing with Autopackage
(http://autopackage.org). It's a system for Linux quite similar to the
Windows installer tools, cross-distribution.
Having tried a few packages (Stellarium is there and it's seriously
cool), I think Celestia would be a great candidate for it. We could
distribute a single package that people could use before the distros put
out their packages. It will also work on Debian, which still has legal
qualms over the Celestia data.
Once I'm done with the current code revision, I'll put in a little bit
of work to see if I can build a binary that runs on everything, with Lua
compiled in statically. libGL is pretty good for dynamic loading, as
commercial games use it across all the distros.
With file preference saving in the vanilla GTK UI, it should make for a
