I've recently updated my home systems to Debian wheezy. So far, I've experienced a variety of problems with Cedar Backup when running under this new Debian version: open/close of drive tray often doesn't work as expected, and in a lot of cases growisofs can't successfully write an image to the disc. In some cases, Cedar Backup also has problems noticing that a disc is already initialized, possibly due to the time it takes for media to stabilize. Many of these problems appear to be tied to the new 3.2.0 kernel. I was able to get my backups to complete by falling back to my old kernel (2.6.32), although I did also have to change the refresh media delay in cback.conf. My main backup hardware is fairly old (motherboard circa 2001, with a somewhat newer LiteOn DVD writer), and that may also be contributing to the behavior. I've never before had problems like this when upgrading Debian or moving to a newer kernel, so I'm a little mystified. If any other Cedar Backup users are experiencing similar problems after upgrading to wheezy, I would appreciate hearing about it. I'd like to make sure I address whatever problems you're seeing. If I hear about other problems, that may make it easier to figure out what's going on. Thanks, KEN -- Kenneth J. Pronovici <pro...@ie...> http://www.cedar-solutions.com/ |
