OK, I just did a test with "joe user" and there is no problem. It took less 
than a minute to get a first mail as a result from the clicking on the web form 
and after I replied to that mail, it took 30 minutes to get the final 
confirmation mail that confirmed the new membership.

You should check your mailer whether it might have blocked the first mail or 
whether the reply was not returned to SF.

Could you explain how you could believe that?

Regardless of where your current directory is in the download area, it lists

	schily-dist-pre3.tar.xz

as the most recent file

This is a preliminary (alpha) release, do the version.h file was not edited.
