does cdrtfe come bundled with ape as it does with flac, lame & ogg? on the fly ape decoding would be hot cuz getting the mac.exe from monkeysaudio's site is tough since they only have the installers available & not the commandline tool. thx for cdrtfe!

Currently, the commandline tool is not included in the cdrtfe installer or portable package. I'll check the license of mac.exe to see if a redistribution of the program and source code via the cdrtfe project is possible.

I tried this settings but it doesn't work for me:
CMD: C:\Program Files\cdrtfe\tools\sound\mac.exe
(I copied the mac.exe in this folder before
Opt: %s %d -c4000
(these are the settings which worked for me in foobar)
I alternatively used thed the commandline
CMD: C:\Program Files\cdrtfe\tools\sound\mac.exe %s %d -c4000
where is my mistake? THX

Alternative commandline encoders can only be used, if they support getting the input via StdIn (see help file, Use cdrtfe, Grab audio tracks (DAE), DAE - Options - Encoding).
The standard commandline tool for Monkey's Audio format does not support taking input from StdIn or writing ouput to StdOut. So, on the fly encoding is not possible.

However, there seems to be modified version of mac.exe which can take input from StdIn, see http://members.home.nl/w.speek/multi.htm. As the modified version could behave different when decoding ape files, I would suggest to rename it to mac2.exe. This will allow cdrtfe to use the standard version for decoding and the modified version for encoding.
The following settings should be used:
Cmd.: C:\Program Files\cdrtfe\tools\sound\mac2.exe
Opt.: - %F -c4000|.ape
See the help file for more information. cdrtfe uses an own set of placeholders which are not compatible to those used by foobar.

I would like to test this version of mac2.exe, but the side seames to be dead:
"Bestand of map niet gevonden
Het gevraagde bestand of de gevraagde map bestaan niet. Misschien is het bestand of de map verwijderd of heeft de pagina waar u vandaan komt een incorrecte verwijzing. "
Where do I get this mac2.exe? do you know a diffrent mirror?
Thank you!

Linux distros won't touch APE, but neither will they touch cdrtools anymore, either. You're probably OK to include the mac.exe file.
