    Daniel Weiskopf - 2001-02-24

I am using Linux 2.4.2 (ide-scsi modularized), glibc 2.1.3, and I have an Iomega ZipCD 8x4x32.  Here is the cdrecord -inq data:

    Cdrecord 1.9 (i586-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2000 Jrg Schilling
    scsidev: '0,0,0'
    scsibus: 0 target: 0 lun: 0
    Linux sg driver version: 3.1.17
    Using libscg version 'schily-0.1'
    Device type    : Removable CD-ROM
    Version        : 0
    Response Format: 1
    Vendor_info    : 'IOMEGA  '
    Identifikation : 'ZIPCD1024INT-A  '
    Revision       : ' 1.8'
Device seems to be: Generic mmc CD-RW.

I cannot read or write CDs to this drive under cdrdao 1.1.4.  (I can read and write CDs using cdrecord-1.9; but I can't get DAO to work using it.  That's why I'm trying to run cdrdao.)  Here is the output of a typical attempt to read a disc:

    root@circularity[1]: ~ # cdrdao read-cd --device 0,0,0 --driver generic-mmc-raw --buffers 64 disc.toc
    Cdrdao version 1.1.4 - (C) Andreas Mueller <mueller@daneb.ping.de>
SCSI interface library - (C) Joerg Schilling
      L-EC encoding library - (C) Heiko Eissfeldt
Paranoia DAE library - (C) Monty

Check http://cdrdao.sourceforge.net/drives.html#dt for actual driver tables.

... (and so on, essentially forever.)

I have also tried the generic-mmc driver, and several combinations of options to the driver, with no success.  Please advise!  This drive claims to support DAO, but none of the software I've used under Linux seems to be able to access it.

    Thanks in advance,
    DAW

To verify if writing would work please try some
simulation runs with the toc-files from the
"testtocs" directory. If the 'generic-mmc' driver
does not work you will have to use the
      'generic-mmc-raw' driver.

For the reading part please try the following
      driver options:

      1. --driver generic-mmc:0x1
      2. --driver generic-mmc:0x3
      3. --driver generic-mmc:0x20
      4. --driver generic-mmc:0x20 --fast-toc

The differences between these options are explained in the README.

If all options fail please send me a log of each
      run.

      Andreas
