Simulation fails, v 1.1.7 on Mdk9.2 for amd64

  • Steve Hollingsworth

Even at low speeds, (2x, when 8x rated) I can't burn or even simulate a cue/bin set for a SVCD disc.  I continue to get errors looking like this:

    Cdrdao version 1.1.7 - (C) Andreas Mueller <>
SCSI interface library - (C) Joerg Schilling
Paranoia DAE library - (C) Monty

    Check for current driver tables.

    Using libscg version 'andreas-0.5-UNIXWARE_Patch'

    2,0,0: LG CD-RW CED-8080B       Rev: 1.06
    Using driver: Generic SCSI-3/MMC - Version 2.0 (options 0x0000)

    ERROR: Simulation failed.

The recorder isn't new but hasn't been heavily used.  It has the latest firmware and I've regularly produced my Mandrake images on it with X-CD-Roast.  So I don't think that's the most likely source of the problem.  It could be related to the amd64 (x86_64) build but I'm not seeing any postings related to this on amd64 lists.

Perhaps a guru can offer some interpretation of the errors.  It does appear certain that its guess of buffer underrun is wrong.  Could it be that a normal condition (for this drive) is being reported as an error and causing a halt?

Thanks in advance for an possible assistance.

I was also having this problem with my (dead) yamaha x8 before it refused to burn any more. Oh well, it served me well.

Have you tried with cdrecord? does it burn a complete CD?
