    Hello.
I'm trying to write at 8x on a plextor W-8220 drive, and am getting errors such as:
cdrdao: Input/output error. : scsi sendcmd: retryable error
    CDB:  2A 00 00 00 2E 8B 00 00 0D 00
    status: 0x2 (CHECK CONDITION)
    Sense Bytes: F0 00 03 00 00 2F 23 0A 00 00 00 00 0C 09 00 00
Sense Key: 0x3 Medium Error, Segment 0
Sense Code: 0x0C Qual 0x09 (write error - loss of streaming) Fru 0x0
    Sense flags: Blk 12067 (valid)
    ERROR: Write data failed.
ERROR: Writing failed - buffer under run?
    ERROR: Simulation failed.

i looked through the bug reports, and it seems that 122516 is my problem. it was posted way back in november. does anyone know about its status?

    thanks.
    nall.

It looks like a normal buffer underun or a scsi - bus
      error.
      Is the SCSI-Termination OK ?
Is the scsi -bus -lenght to long ?
Do you use a Tekram 315 -Controller with external
      devices ?

      well,
what seems to be happening was lots of swapping. i have my swap partition on the same disk as my cdimage. so, having only 65Mb of ram in tha machine, if i'm running netscape or something, i guess memory gets tight, and starts to swap. this causes the data stream to get lost long enough that the write fails.

i added another 64Mb to the machine (to reduce swapping), and 8x writes work like a charm.

i'm still not sure why the cdrecord worked at 8x w/ only 64Mb. just lucky, i guess.
