Settings this SVN property to "native" causes the line endings dynamically being changed according to the users native line endings upon checkout. It also avoids mixes of LF and CRLF because SVN complains if the line endings are inconsistent.

Well, I don't know if Git provides a similar mechanism. If yes, then it should be used, too, if no then this task is indeed obsolete.
