Are these the packets from MK:DD? What did you use to capture them? Was this just from the one copy of the game searching for other Gamecubes on the network?

That is what was captured by ethereal when I had my gamecube only on the network. You can see the first thing it does is send out DHCP requests to get an IP. After that it begins to broadcast about the location of the xml file that I have also uploaded to the project. I will be at a LAN party for MK:DD this weekend and we will be capturing a lot of data then. We hope to then get going with the project in a more substantial way.
