Welcome to the ccHost mailing list.
ccHost is the open source version of the code that runs behind Creative
Commons site ccMixter.org
The 0.1 Beta is now online
ccMixter.org is officially starting the port to the new code as of today
so the next six to eight week will be pretty intense.
Expect a fair amount of code churn and chatter (by me if no one else) on
this list and many releases with bug fixes and features.
Some things that have already come up:
Some folks forget to make the directory cclib/phptal/phptal_cache
writable -- your installation won't work until you do.
The current release does NOT work on PHP 5 (if this is a really huge
issue for you, as in: prevents you from installing) let us know.
There seems to be a cookie issue when using something other than the
default port 80 (e.g. http://localhost:88) the workaround seems to be a
change in cclib/cc-util.php:
$ok = setcookie($name,$value,$expire,$path,$domain);
$ok = setcookie($name,$value,$expire);
This looks to have fixed the problem on at least one installation

0.2.3 Released last night, should be available for download.
File permission change: the default file permissions setting for Unix
has loosened a bit to include group. A help file is included to help
smooth over some issues folks have been having on shared hosts.
License editing: You can now edit (loosen) the CC license of a file
after upload. That includes a provision for detecting if an underlying
source of a remix has changed licenses, in which case the remixer has a
chance to re-license as well.
Mail: for folks not using phpBB2 I've included basic mailing functions
including artist contact and mass mailing.
Lots of bug fixes.
Now that the port of ccMixter data is done to the ccHost the features
and bug features will be coming at a pretty steady pace this week and next.
