[cclib-devel] v1.7 and dropping Python2 support

Hello everyone,

We had a dev meeting recently and decided that we will accelerate our
sunsetting of support for Python2. We're going to drop Python2 in the
coming days in master, and plan to release v1.7 in about two weeks. This
will let us clean up the codebase and make future development easier.

If anyone has concerns about dropping Python2, please reach out to us.
