[cbm4linux-users] cbmctrl open 8 15 V0 - does it do anything observable?

Hello,

as I currently have some problems, could somebody please tell me if the
command

$ cbmctrl open 8 15 V0

should let a 1571 drive perform a "validate" command, that is, do you
hear the floppy doing something?

Is a 

$ cbmctrl unlisten

necessary afterwards?
