I think we should consider removing the option to "Perform multiple orientation analysis" for projects with the run scope set to Addition and/or Alteration. First this selection is not logical and my not be allowed by the Energy Standards and second it provide inaccurate results. I ran our EAA sample with front acing 0, 90, 180, 270 and Cardinal and documented four different compliance margins.

Update to rules for this issue have been committed on r846

    This update includes:

    • Add rulelist to reset 'Proj:AllOrientation'' if project Run Scope is 'Addition and/or Alteration'
    • Add rulelist to reset 'Proj:AllOrientation'' if 'IsAddAlone' is true. This condition isn't part of the original ticket discussion, but I modify it based on my understanding - If the project is add alone analysis, the orientation shouldn't be rotated. If this change doesn't make sense to you, please let me know. I will revise it.
    • Remove 'Perform Multiple Orientation Analysis' from CBECC-Res screen if RunScope is 'Addition and/or Alteration' or 'IsAddAlone'.

Attached is the test results for before/after update, and the results are identical after update.

If I am reading your comments correctly, your second ruleset change should be undone.

"- Add rulelist to reset 'Proj:AllOrientation'' if 'IsAddAlone' is true. This condition isn't part of the original ticket discussion, but I modify it based on my understanding - If the project is add alone analysis, the orientation shouldn't be rotated. If this change doesn't make sense to you, please let me know. I will revise it."

The user puts the building in with respect to the front orientation, and then the orientation entered is used to make it point the right direction.

Don't do anything yet. I think this change to addition alone is good as well. Cardinal compliance would not apply to an addition alone or an existing+addition.
