I have written to new programs (as part of the JRecord Project - Data2Xml and Xml2Data) as replacements for Dat2Xml and Xml2Dat programs in cb2xml.

The Data2Xml and Xml2Data programs have the following advantages (over Dat2Xml and Xml2Dat):

Can handle much larger files (they are based on the StAX processor and process 1 record at a time).
Better support for Cobol Numeric types.
Can handle binary files
Can handle Fixed Width and VB files.
