Catbird Linux Version 1.3.0 is Released

Greetings All,

Catbird Linux v1.3.0 has been uploaded. It brings updated packages, a few bug fixes, and tweaks. See the updated software list for details. If there are any issues downloading from here, try the magnet link on the main website, Catbirdlinux.com.

You may notice that transparency and blur have been removed from the terminal. That is because Picom was associated with some irritating instability on the system, so it was disabled. If you really want Picom running, simply uncomment the startup command in your home folder's .xinitrc file. As work continues toward a freshened Catbird Linux based on Ubuntu 22.04, I hope to get Picom back on, with that pretty transparency and blur.

Krita, the paint and image editing app, is new to Catbird Linux. It has been added to make it easier to work with image color spaces. If you are working with ebooks and paper books, you'll be happy to have less friction when switching images between the formats. It can be done in Gimp, but it is awkward, and life is too short for the FAFO.

Cheers,
PC / Catbird Linux
