Yes, I was thinking about both of those options. I think perhaps my expectations of what the validator should do are probably slightly different to what DFV aims for; I want my validator to return the parameters ready for execution, or an error if one of the required parameters is off. There is plenty of scope for customising D::FV to do that without too much extra effort, though.
