I had wanted a student to be able to use Google Calendars to drive a calendar displaying in Caravel.
Wow, the calendar app thing lets you embed an ical calendar feed into Caravel--too cool!
Two things I noticed while fiddling with this:
1.) After I managed to successfully get an external calendar up and going, I wanted to change. But after changing the URL to the feed, no matter what I did, somehow the old calendar kept displaying. Even adding an additional external feed did not work. Couldn't even do it by deleting the block and re-inserting a calendar app again.
It seemed that the only way to get a different feed to display was to "add a page" and insert a calendar into a block on that new page.
2.) The first time I tried this out, I saw no mention of "ical" or "ics" files or even "calendar feeds". I think the text talks about a "calendar file". The help icon only links to general help. I came in hoping I could give at the URL of an ical feed, and so went ahead and tried it anyway, but thought to myself that someone else coming in for the first time would have no idea what kind of "calendar file" is called for.
