Quick fix: Have the user install the visual studio redistributable for the version of visual studio that whoever built r294 used. When I was building them I posted the VS2005 redistributed on my website @ http://bleeblap.com/CamStudio/weeklybuilds.php They are also free to download from Microsoft and can be found via simple web search. Whoever built r294 needs to let everybody know which version it is. The better fix: Change it to statically link everything. We aren't really concerned about the size of our application, so we might as well link everything in statically and avoid this whole DLL mess. If somebody has time now we want to use the /MT and /MTd build flags instead of /MD or /MDd for release and debug respectively. If nobody beats me to it, I'll try to make and test out the change this weekend. This is a sudden rash of problems after a long silent period. Was r294 changed or reverted to some other release? I thought we had the side-by-side error completely eliminated, but apparently not. In particular, see the posts above starting with March 30 onwards. We also have seen a rash of crashing behaviors. One user couldn't even install CamStudio Lossless 1.4.exe without the CamStudio program becoming corrupt! (I'm dubious about that one - see this thread: http://camstudio.org/forum/discussion/694/cant-get-files-to-work-in-pinnacle. And we have one person reporting a virus announcement from Avast. I don't personally like the look of trac ... We need to organize the following and begin chipping away at them ... 1. List of bugs to fix in priority order 2. @Terry, Just a question? As our tester are you able to compile the executable yourself? In the past I put copies on my own environment for you and others. Not the best approach now. Maybe we should create a dropbox for you (and other non developers) so we can share pre-beta releases easily in between. As I learned from earlier release, it is better that one of us finds out that new development got bugs than that other common users do and we get ongoing comments in the forum about that. @Paul Do you agree? Nick, This is I believe just a ongoing development of the 2.6 line. The old 3.0 was not so much more than an empty shell. @All, To prevent confusion I would suggest that this new development is tagged as 2.6c or 2.7 I prefer 2.6c as there are no new functions introduced. Would reserve 2.7 for first release that really got new big functions. Best approach I believe is that we never tag a release with a 3.0 tag again. No the 3.x codebase was bad. This is the 3.1 codebase that has just started by me. :-) There was a lot of complaints about 3.x codebase so i restarted the old 2.6 codebase and jumped it up to 3.1 codebase. I hope that explains what has happened clearly. Thanks, Paul |

@Mikhall yeah GDI+ is solid code but someone wrote a small asm function into it. Anyway ur project know matter how incomplete would be worth the look at and i hope u publish it somewhere so I and others can help improve it. Thanks, Paul |
