Hi I've just committed a new LCD driver to Cajun 4.0, LCDProc. LCDProc is a statistics display program at http://lcdproc.omnipotent.net/index.php3 The main reason for adding this was to add support for parallel-port displays using the HD44780 chip. But LCDProc does a little more... In addition to displaying system stats, etc., LCDProc can accept connections from other programs (like Cajun), and share the display space. How is this neat? Well, imagine you have a Hajun (home-cajun). Each application gets "priorities" - give Cajun priority 0 (the highest). Start another program, like a weather or headline news updater at, say, priority 20. You can set a duration for Cajun of, say, 10 minutes. Now, when CAJUN is in use, it takes over the LCD. If you leave CAJUN alone for 10 minutes, it goes away and the weather or news is displayed. Once you start using CAJUN again, it automatically appears. Pretty cool.. LCDProc can drive Matrix-orbital and CrystalFontz displays too, so you can use the same weather/news setup with those displays - it's not just for HD44780 LCD's. This didn't make it into 4.0-b1, so we'll have to cut 4.0-b2 soon. If you're itching to try this driver out and can't wait, just let me know; I'll send you a copy of the latest code. Or you can get it yourself from CVS. Enjoy. -paulb =========================================================================== pa...@oa...
