CAGE-Computer Audio Garden in Eclipse / News: Recent posts

The concepts are growing clearer now.

The CAGE is renamed, to the Computer Audio Garden in Eclipse. This is to be the backbone framework, using the Eclipse RCP Rich Client Platform.

Then inside the CAGE there is SILENCE -- Sound Investigation Lab for Enhanced New Compositional Experiments (effects, elaborations)....

Finally got off my butt, registered this project at SourceForge, started some preliminary admin and meta-organizing.

Note this project will hopefully produce some useful software, but will also serve as a container for documentation and philosophical notes, that I have collected for over 15 years now, relating to audio signal processing transforms, music, "composition"/"improvisation" vs ?? (sculpture, "sound design", photography, sampling/appropriation/"observation"/"noting"/"referring to"/signifying etc.), ontology/identification/comparison/judgments re "musical works".... read more

Well I guess the project is registered now.

I do not have much time to work on this,
so things will progress very slowly.

Perhaps some others will sign up to help,
if I explain some of my goals and they
agree with them.

Of course this is just a continuation
of work that I have done on and off
since the late 1980's, so in a way
this project is already over 15 years old.

At least, some of the concepts are.
And I hope to do as little "new work"
as possible -- mostly I want to understand
existing work, integrate different things
in new ways that will be useful, etc.... read more
